Hydroelectric: 

English Lakes Hotels Group – Holbeck Gill Hydroelectric Scheme

On behalf of English Lakes Hotels group, gphl has been awarded the construction of a 60KW hydroelectric scheme at the Low Wood Hotel, on the shore of Windermere in the heart of the lake district.  

The scheme includes construction of a powerhouse and an intake weir both finished with locally sourced materials and stone to minimise impact on the local aesthetic, and these are connected via a 800m 315mm HDPE welded pipeline.

The project started mid-April 2021, and already the powerhouse superstructure and tailrace headwall are complete and awaiting for final cladding, the export cable is installed across the hotel grounds and the pipe welding is complete and is currently being installed

Earthworks: 

Dacre Homes – Demolition of existing bungalow and foundations for 8 new homes

gphl are pleased to be engaged as the main contractor for this new housing development in Cockermouth, Cumbria.

Work began in August 2020 with clearing vegetation and demolishing an existing bungalow on the site. This is a full infrastructure package including roads &sewers to adoptable standard, and foundations & blockwork up to DPC.

Updates:

March 2021: Foundations complete on all 8 plots and ready for timber frames to be erected

July 2021: Houses are erected and we returned to site to continue landscaping and excavating trenches for the utility connections.

 

Washington Homes – Groundworks package for 26 properties

gphl has been awarded by Washington Homes the groundworks package for a development of 26 properties in the village of Bothel on the outskirts of the lake district.

Updates:

August 2021: Muckshifting and cut and fill is underway across the site and foundations will be started in the coming weeks.
